Getting a Card

library-card white.png

Residents of Marion County may get a library card at no cost. Photo ID and proof of residency are required to get a library card. Examples of proof include (but are not limited to) a SC driver’s license, business letter addressed to you, rental agreement, or paystub.

Non-residents may get a library card by paying a fee of $10 per year.

Under 18

Children birth to age 14 are welcome to sign up for a library card with the signature of a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians must be residents of Marion County.

Teens aged 15 and older may obtain a library card without a parent’s signature.

While there are some restrictions placed on under 18 library cards, every child and every family is different. Parents and guardians hold the responsibility for ensuring that materials borrowed from the library are appropriate for their children’s age and maturity levels.

If you need to replace your card, you can request one at any branch. Replacement cards are $1.00.
