Meet the Author: Daniel Wallace!

With the help of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Historic Marion Revitalization Association, and the City of Marion, the Marion County Library System is hosting a speaking engagement with author Daniel Wallace.

The program will take place August 2nd at the Marion Opera House. Wallace will be discussing his book Big Fish: A novel of mythic proportions and how it relates to the film and Broadway adaptations.

All ages are welcome and there will be a book signing to follow!


Friends Group Interest Meeting – 6PM – Marion

The Marion County Public Library System needs your help! Libraries are always stronger and more in tune with community needs when they have a group of dedicated community members who care–we call these groups “Friends.”

Friends help with things like book sales, fundraising, events, and much more. If you would be interested in being a Friend of the Marion County Public Libraries, please come to the interest meeting on January 30th at 6:00 PM in the main branch.

On January 10th, Ms. Jean Townsend will be retiring from the Marion County Library System after twenty-eight years of service. Ms. T has touched the lives of many of our patrons through Youth and Bookmobile services, and we want to make sure she knows she is appreciated!

Please help us honor and celebrate Jean at the Marion Library on her last day!

Festivities are as follows:

9:30 AM Storytime with Ms. Jean T (for ages birth to five)

1-5 PM Drop in and visit with Jean!
