In order to satisfy its stated mission – of meeting the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of the residents of Marion County – one of Marion County Library’s main objectives is to provide and maintain a general collection of materials that will cover a broad range of knowledge, include both basic works of permanent value, and include timely materials on current issues.Due to limitations of space and budget, the Library's collection will not be able to satisfy all requests for materials.Those materials that are beyond the scope of the collection may be obtained through interlibrary loans.
The purpose of the Selection Policy is to guide the librarians in the selection of materials and to inform the public about the principles upon which selections are made.
