Babies and Toddlers (0 - 36 Months)

Mother Goose on the Loose™ is an award-winning early-literacy program created byBetsy Diamant-Cohen for children (ages 0-36 months) and their parents or caregivers. The program combines music, movement, visual literacy, and language development to help children get ready to read. Even more important, it helps young children get ready for school by learning how to focus and concentrate, learning social skills like taking turns, learning how to express emotions, and by encouraging a love for learning that will ensure their success throughout future school experiences.
Parents, too, will benefit from the program. Mother Goose on the Loose strives to strengthen parents as the primary nurturers of their children by increasing parent knowledge of child development, helping parents improve their own literacy skills, alerting parents to the resources available at the library, and emphasizing that a parent is the child’s first and best teacher.

Preschool (Ages 3 - 5)

Children ages 3-5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to join us for Preschool storytimes. We serve approximately 300 preschoolers per week through our area daycare and HeadStart centers, but we also have special times reserved for families. In addition to hearing some of the best children's stories, we will sing songs, learn fingerplays, use flannelboards, and laugh at puppets. At the library, early learning and fun are the same thing!

Call Cathy, Jean, or Wilma at the Library (843-423-8300) for more information.
