book coverThe 8-Minute Organizer by Regina Leeds

Whether you are busy dealing with a demanding job, raising kids, or coping with illness, simply finding the time to get organized can be a challenge. The 8-Minute Organizer to the rescue!

Regina Leeds shows how anyone can organize their home with just a few minutes each day. She has tailored her magic formula (eliminate, categorize, organize) so that readers can work in short, effective increments and complete small projects that add up to big progress. The book includes hundreds of systems and tricks--from rapid closet rehab to tackling junk drawers, clutter-busting a room to setting up a mail system. Leeds also offers quick but important daily routines (making the bed), periodic tasks (checking the smoke detector), and fun projects (creating a dream board) to keep up the momentum.

UPDATE: The S.C. Department of Revenue has released a new list of Frequently Asked Questions about the breach: click here.

A recent breach of the South Carolina Department of Revenue's database resulted in the compromise of 3.6 million people's personal information.  Anyone who has filed a state tax return since 1998 is affected, and the compromised information can include Social Security numbers, birth dates, bank account and credit card numbers, or anything else included in a tax return.

In addition, up to 657,000 businesses have had their information stolen.

So what can you do?  The state has partnered with Experian to provide one year of credit monitoring.  The service is free but you must sign up before January 31.  To sign up:

You can also get a free copy of your credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies each year at www.annualcreditreport.com.  Please note that annualcreditreport.com is the only legitimate source of a truly free credit report.

For more information about keeping your identity safe, the DOR has prepared this document explaining how to place a security freeze on your credit, place fraud alerts, and more.

UPDATE: Businesses will also receive free credit monitoring through Dun & Bradstreet.  If you have a business, visit www.dandb.com/sc or call 1-800-279-9881 to sign up.
