Summer seems far away in February, so I'm delighted to announce that Cathy Pruett, our Youth Services Librarian, is introducing a new winter reading program! Cozy Up to a Good Book, our theme for this February program, brings the warmth and pleasure of summer reading to you in the middle of winter with Stay and Play Storytime Saturdays.
For babies and young children, playing is learning! Families can enjoy storytime and then stay after for a craft and play activities that foster critical early learning skills.
The first nineteen families to sign up for the winter reading program will be given an “I Love My Library” canvas tote bag . Participants who complete the winter reading activity log will receive a book to keep as well as a reading buddy bear and will be entered into a drawing to win a special prize.
All Stay and Play Storytime Saturdays take place in Marion from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
For more information, please contact the library at 843-423-8300.

The new year is nearly upon us, and the MCLS will be closed on January 1 - January 3. While we are closed this weekend, why not try our newly updated digital magazine collection from Zinio? We now have FIFTY magazines to choose from that cover a broad spectrum of interests. (¡Hay revistas en español también!)
While you're looking at our new choices for digital magazines, why not also explore some new reads? NoveList Plus (and NoveList K-8 Plus) is a fun and easy way to look for something that fits your interests and mood. If you prefer shorter non-fiction, take a look at the publications link in Business Source Premier and browse for your favorite business journal (such as the Harvard Business Review).
However you choose to celebrate, have a safe and happy new year!
